Will It Work For Me?

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO WORK?

This depends very much upon the individual, and although studies have often indicated a range of between 2 - 14 days, some people have experienced relief on the first night, with others sometimes taking much longer than fourteen days.

We have even had people tell us they didn’t notice the relief untll after several months. So we stress the importance of persevering. Other customers have reported that they didn’t notice the pain had improved until they took the underlay off their bed, or slept in a bed without one, and noticed the pain was worse again.

WHAT SHOULD I DO DIFFERENTLY?

We recommend you drink more water when you first purchase your magnetic underlay. This is because your body will be detoxifying because of the improved blood circulation.

We recommend that for the first two weeks at least, you increase your water consumption to around two litres per day.

WHAT IF IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO WORK?

Some people may experience an increase in their complaint initially. This may in fact be a good sign as your body may simply be detoxifying. You should persevere to give your underlay time to provide relief, and don’t forget to increase your water intake.

You may also find that your body temperature may be raised slightly when you first put the underlay on your bed, this is normal, and will be only temporary. Remember, 95 percent of users of BioMag products experience benefit.

How Does It Work?

It is believed that the static magnets in the underlay increase the flow of blood in your circulation, because blood contains iron. Your blood acts as a conductor and this assists the flow of your circulation.

This increase in blood flow facilitates the delivery of trace elements, nutrients and oxygen throughout your body tissue. This in turn helps to reduce the inflammation that causes pain, and aids the removal of toxins.

In addition, an increased production of melatonin helps lead to a deeper, restorative sleep.

Regarding excess acidity or alkalinity, you may well find that exposure to BioMag products will help to bring your body into a position of natural balance.

ARE MAGNETIC UNDERLAYS SAFE FOR EVERYONE TO USE?

If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, or sleep with an insulin pump it is not recommended that you sleep on magnetic products. However, there has never been any evidence that magnetic therapy is harmful for pregnant women.

With pacemakers and insulin pumps, it is possible that the magnets could slow down the battery.

People in these categories should instead be buying one of our beautiful Woolrest Fleece products which do not contain magnets.

If you have surgical pins, plates or screws in your body, there is no evidence to suggest that there is any ill-effect from using a magnetic underlay.

If you wear a watch or have a hearing aid, you may like to remove those items at night when sleeping on a magnetic underlay, because it may slow the battery.

ARE THERE ANY CLINICAL SIDE EFFECTS?

No, the World Health Organisation has concluded that no adverse side effects have been observed with the magnetic energy that BioMag products produce.

Putting Your Underlay on Your Bed

HOW DOES IT FIT?

If you have bought our original BioMag (without the wool), it is very important that the white side faces up, and the square corners go at the head of the bed. The elastics simply fit over the corners of your bed to hold the BioMag in place, and the pillowpad slides into your pillow case, again with the white side facing up.

As the magnets are well embedded within the underlay and pillow pad, it is extremely comfortable to sleep on.

The Woolrest BioMag and the Woolrest BioMag Gold Label are very simple to use – they too have elastics which fit round your mattress.

WHY USE ELASTIC STRAPS RATHER THAN A SKIRT?

At Woolrest BioMag we have trialled both the elastic strap system and the skirt, and we have decided it’s better to use elastics on the corners of our underlays.

Mattress thickness varies considerably and while elastic straps will accommodate any mattress thickness, it is far more difficult with a skirt. You often end up with the skirt material stretched, or extra bulk.

Our elastic ties eliminate all this and sit snuggly. We also put an extra tie around the middle of our woollen underlays to give even more support, so they don’t move about on the bed.

IS THERE A HALF-AND-HALF MAGNETIC UNDERLAY?

We have the perfect solution for couples where one partner wants a magnetic underlay, and the other partner prefers wool without the magnetics: the 50/50.

This is a Woolrest BioMag on one side, and a plain Woolrest double fleece on the other. Ideal for situations where one partner may have pain that requires the BioMag magnets, while the other partner may prefer plain wool. And it doesn’t matter which side of the bed you sleep on – the 50/50 Woolrest BioMag can be turned around to be used either way.

IS A SINGLE BED UNDERLAY SUITABLE ON A LARGER MATTRESS?

This is not a good idea, that’s why we offer you a 50/50 Woolrest BioMag (see question directly above), because a single underlay on a bigger bed is likely to move and wrinkle during the night.

We strongly recommend the correct size fitting for your mattress, so that the elastics will reach the corners of your bed.

For the small difference in price, it is worthwhile. We have a fitted Woolrest BioMag magnetic underlay available for every size of mattress, from single through to super-king.

IS IT WASHABLE?

We do not recommend you machine wash BioMag products. No domestic machine would cope with the bulk of wool when it expands and the motor in your machine would probably seize.

We advise airing it regularly in the sun, and you can spot clean it with warm soapy water. It can of course be taken to the cleaners to be professionally spot-cleaned - but not dry cleaned.

Many people simply put a cheap duvet cover over their BioMag underlay, cut four holes in the corners for the elastics to go through, and then they simply take the cover off whenever they want to wash it.

IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH MY ELECTRIC BLANKET/OTHER UNDERLAYS?

Yes, the original BioMag, the Woolrest BioMag and the Woolrest BioMag Gold Label are all ideal to use with your electric blanket.

The underlays simply fit over the top of your electric blanket, or any other mattress protector you may have on your bed.

The simple way to remember is: there should only be a sheet between you and your Woolrest BioMag.

DO I NEED BOTH THE UNDERLAY AND PILLOWPAD?

We recommend the pillowpad should always be used in conjunction with your underlay, to improve your entire blood circulation.

This results in the optimum benefit, by reducing inflammation and thereby helping to ease pain. We make it simple for you by supplying complimentary pillowpads with all our underlays, the original BioMag, the Woolrest BioMag and the Woolrest BioMag Gold Label.

If you would like to purchase more pillowpads, for use in your favourite chair etc, they can be bought separately.
